Los Angeles, May 11, 2011 - SUPERFRONT hosts TIMEless May 26th through August 31st, 2011.  Welcome to architecture's new media. Take a trip with the TIMEless curatorial team in time through space, the fourth dimension. Featured are over 100 works from award winning designers, architects, filmmakers, artists and musicians, including ten commissioned interactive installations.

"Questions are more important than the answers; we explore immersive environments and connect them to the 20th century lineage of architecture and film," so say the curators.  Participating artist F. Myles Sciotto describes the exhibit as "highlighting projects that blur the threshold of spatial and temporal constructions." Design critic and  planner Sam Hall Kaplan adds that at last architecture is shown in a new and exciting perspective, as a place in time "it is really the way we experiences architecture, temporal and temporary."

TIMEless features the curatorial team of Martin Roy Mervel, principal of Studio/SLAB, Inc. and emerging designer Ralph Steenblik.  Mr. Mervel has designed and built for clients including Chrysalis and Amir Development and has made substantial contributions in the disciplines of production design, art direction and set design in film, television and commercial media.  Mr. Steenblik is an emerging young designer and curator who has already built socially responsive works in Africa and Central America and has worked in various architectural firms across the country, KPF in New York among them.  Both men have curated other exhibits in the United States, this is their first collaborative exhibit.

Weddings and The wonderful world of Disney

Mom and Dad, Valerie and Adam came down for Brandon's wedding. They came to a gallery opening at my school and a fondue party at my house. The wedding on Saturday followed by a stroll around the gardens at the Getty, and a night at Disneyland to celebrate Halloween.

Sunday was a lazy day with just Val and Adam at church and on the beach. I saw them off at the airport and then took the train home. Check out the album here.

Where I am

Since then... I have moved to Southern California and am attending grad school at sci arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture). I am living downtown in a place with some roommates, just down the street from the Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry. On my way to school I pass three more stellar examples of architecture, one by Thom Mayne (co-founder of my school), one by my former employer AECOM, and some other piece. With the opportunity to live in an architectural playground I thought it appropriate to show you a little of what that looks like, and there are are a few more shots here.

Since Then

finished My degree at ASU, and promptly drove home to SLC to fly to New York. With friends drove to North Carolina for a conference, and back through Washington DC. I then drove from New York to SLC, helping a friend relocate. Then I drove from SLC to LA via Yosemite and San Fransico. Then flying from LA to Dubai, and on to Uganda. Where I spent a month and a half with Mandy. At the end we traveled between Kampala and the Kenyan coast. After which I flew to Dubai and on to Milan. I traveled from there to Rome. I flew home to SLC for my grandfathers wedding. Then I moved to Los Angeles for grad school.

There's more where that came from! Check out the photo album.
